Auxiliary Bishop
His Excellency, Bishop
Kenney has been a member of the Society of the Missionaries of
the Holy Apostles for many years. He has served in many parishes
throughout the United States. He is presently the Retreat Master
at the Villa Francisco Retreat Center in New Port Richey,
Florida while also serving as Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese.
Bishop Kenney earned a B.S. degree in Education from Western
Connecticut University in 1960, a B.A. degree from Immaculate
Heart College, Los Angles in 1966, an M. Div. in Theology from
Saint Mark Seminary, South Union, Kentucky in 1980, and a Ph.D.
in the Humanities from Pacific Western University, Los Angeles
in 1984.
Bishop Kenney worked on the West Coast where he was
coordinator of student teachers at Pepperdine University, Los
Angeles. He taught American Literature, Composition and Pastoral
Counseling at Holy Apostles Seminary, Cromwell, Connecticut, in
the 1980's, and Scripture at Saint Leo College, Saint Leo,
Florida in the 1990's. His credentials include certification as
a school psychologist and counselor.
Bishop Kenney has numerous publications including: Sea Oates,
Poems & Prayers (1995), Come Follow (1980) and 1985), Of Seal
Beach (1971), Flesh and the Word (1963) and Reflections From San
Blass (1990).
After his many years in ministry with the Roman Catholic
Church, Bishop Kenney was
incardinated with the American Catholic Church and later
Consecrated a Bishop for the Church by The Most Reverend Robert
J. Allmen on November 12, 1999.
On December 1, 2005 Bishop Kenney was incardinated into the
Catholic Church of America and now serves as Auxiliary Bishop of
the Church as well as Pastor our recently opened parish of
Saints Francis and Clair in Port Richey
Florida.
Upon the merger of of the Catholic Church in
January of 2008 with the American Catholic Church Diocese of
California Bishop Kenney assumed an Auxiliary Bishop of the
Church.
